We are pleased to share that we have once again been shortlisted for The Energy Awards.

The Energy Awards are highly recognised within the industry and reward the achievements of companies cutting emissions and leading the way in innovative energy use. BIU have been shortlisted within the Energy Data and Collection category.

The Energy Data and Collection category is based around metering and systems that support demand side management. This award category looks at excellence in the monitoring, targeting, metering and measuring of energy use and recognises technologies and systems which have yielded savings and carbon emissions that would otherwise not have been achieved.

We have been shortlisted for the process and results achieved from their Energy Alarms system. This process triggers excessive energy consumption and reports and advises on methods and actions to significantly reduce consumption.

Since inception, this service alone has saved one of our retail clients in excess of £450,000 by identifying areas of excessive consumption and implementing methods to reduce this. In total, our Energy Alarms service has saved our clients an average of 6% of their energy consumption, year on year.

The Energy Alarms system was developed by our Integrated Energy Services team, who work closely with clients to reduce consumption and carbon.

Our Senior Energy Assessor, Paul Hutton, lead the project. He said: “It’s a great achievement to be shortlisted for this category. We have worked hard on our Energy Alarms system and to be recognised by such an established award is fantastic”.

“We work closely with all our clients and listen to their needs. We wanted to develop more than a reporting system for our customers. We wanted to create an entire system and process that would directly measure consumption and more importantly, reduce it”.

The Energy Award winners will be announced at London Hilton on Park Lane on 2nd December 2014, with BIU up against eight other organisations in the Energy Data and Collection category.
