Project summary
With gas and electricity prices reportedly likely to increase by
up to 70% year on year, it’s a worrying time for all businesses
attempting to keep a lid on expenditure and this is no different
for the UK’s leading supermarket, Tesco.
Tesco’s reaction to these reported increases was to employ
BIU to double check areas of previous expenditure to recover any
overpayment that may have been made to utility companies.
The project consisted of auditing over four years worth of historical
electricity supply for nearly 2,000 stores.
The analysis carried out by BIU yielded £425,398 of extra
savings to Tesco and in one particular area of investigation alone,
BIU secured Tesco’s biggest single supplier refund to data
of close to £1/4 Million.
Since engaging BIU’s services Tesco has benefited from savings
in excess of £1.2M from a combination of invoice processing
and a capacity reduction scheme. This is just the icing on the cake
as BIU manage and process all Tesco stores utility invoices and
resolve all the queries.
“Tesco have worked together with British Independent Utilities since June 2003. The expert service they provide has proved extremely valuable and BIU have been instrumental in the progress achieved in our utilities management.
BIU have proved to be a highly knowledgeable and reliable industry resource, who are willing and able to go that extra mile.
Most importantly, Tesco demand the best and BIU provide it!”

What some of our other clients say...

“One of BIU's objectives was to prove that RBS could not receive
a better service elsewhere. I can say that this has been proven.”
