What services are provided in relation
to Climate Change Levy?
- CCL Exemption opportunities
- Energy Reduction incentives
- Continued management of energy efficiency
within portfolio and reporting on present and future reductions/savings
British Independent Utilities can also provide specialist knowledge
in Climate Change Levy, to ensure that your supplies are subject
to the correct levies. For example, the following are examples of
non-domestic consumers of energy who are exempt of CCL:
- Charities (non-commercial usage)
- Educational Accommodation
- Homes for children/elderly/disabled
- Armed Forces accommodation
If an industry shows a commitment to an energy reduction target over a period of ten years with progressive decrease every two years,
it can be eligible for a discount of up to 80%. This is strictly
restricted to energy intensive Companies, which operate what IPPC,
refer to as a Part A process.
Even if the company operates under the above conditions but is
exempt from IPPC under size conditions, it is still eligible to
participate in CCL discounts.
CCL is kept within the industry, as it is revenue neutral. The
incentives for the usage of some £1bn collected by the CCL
initiative include:
- National Insurance Contributions reduced by
0.3p/£ (higher employee numbers expected but lower energy
bills)
- Research and promotion of energy efficient
technologies.
- ECA's (Enhanced Capital Allowances) permitted
using £100m of the revenue. This is made viable with the
usage of energy efficient measures and strategies, such as Lighting,
Boilers and Refrigeration.
BIU can monitor the efficiency of energy usage with the company
and combine it with environment, energy and budget reports which
can show reductions in cost by utility as a direct result of CCL
reductions brought about by the above.
In conjunction with the above, other areas of expertise can aid
energy efficiency, particularly Carbon Trading.
