Energy Eye - Gas Report
The well-documented strike at the
Grangemouth oil refinery, which has
forced the closure of BP's Forties
pipeline, has had a two-pronged
impact on the UK's gas market. Not
only has the closure of the pipeline
bolstered global oil prices
(underpinning European gas prices),
but 25% of the UK's gas supply
(approx. 85 million cubic meters) is
landed via the Forties pipeline.
However, much of the sting has been
offset by the falling demand in gas
over the last two weeks. Warmer weather has seen gas storage
injecting at a steady pace, and flows
from Belgium increased last week.
