Utility Procurement and Purchasing
BIU takes a
unique approach to utility procurement, focused on risk and outcome.
The approach is structured around a hierarchy of energy savings, a technique
we have developed over many years, which focuses on determining the
theoretical absolute results for any given combination of supplies
(be they for an individual set of customers' supplies or across
customers' portfolios).
The hierarchy of savings can be most simply expressed as:

- Negotiation - through our energy market knowledge
and formulaic negotiation we can reduce energy suppliers contract margin
to 1% or less.
- Energy Supplier Optimization - by selecting the optimum energy supplier
based on accurate offer evaluation can reduce your overall
energy costs by 3.5%.
- Timing & Duration - by actively
working with you and the energy suppliers to optimise the price strike
point and association contract duration (and volume).
- Efficiency - contract administration,
validation and registration built upon a foundation of actively
validated data integrated with the purchasing process maximises
efficiency and minimise risk.
The areas of Negotiation and Timing & Duration are not bespoke
to BIU. However, efficiency gains from integrating procurement with
utility management bureau services and supplier optimisation are.
Because of the symbiotic relationship between an actively managed
utility bureau and the utility procurement process, we do not recommend
undertaking utility purchasing in isolation. |
